Adam LaPorte is an award-winning composer and performer.
LaPorte grew up in Murfreesboro, Tennessee where he developed a passion for music and storytelling. His senior year of high school, he premiered his first full length musical, Rain Children, which went on to win the Nashville Broadway World Award for Best New Work.
He is a graduate on Oklahoma City University and was the first person in the institution’s history to complete a double major in Musical Theatre Performance and Composition. While there, he completed two more full length musicals, both of which received productions; The Baseball Play (Freshpaint Performance Lab, Winner of Oklahoma Broadway World Award’s Best New Work of 2018) and June by the Sea (OCU Stripped).
In 2020 he was commissioned by Local Classic Repertory to do a night of original songs, completed and produced entirely remotely. His play, Courtship, premiered at The Tank in fall of 2022. He has also worked as a commercial singer-songwriter, collaborating with artists in Nashville, New York City, and abroad.
LaPorte received his MFA from NYU’s Graduate Musical Theater Writing Program in 2023. He is a proud volunteer at the 52nd Street Project.
